Two robbers nabbed thanks to good work by Sandton police

SANDTON – The Sandton police recently arrested two suspects for an alleged robbery.

Following an alleged robbery on Woodmead Drive, Sandton police arrested two armed robbers and recovered a stolen police firearm after the officers were contacted by the victim whose phone was stolen.

According to Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, the men aged 33 and 45, were arrested on Woodmead Drive after the victim tracked his cellphone following the robbery.

“One of the suspects was found in possession of a 9mm Parabellum with one magazine and two 9mm rounds. The serial number on the barrel was erased but the serial number on the frame was visible,” said Meyer.

Following an investigation, he said the firearm which was found was stolen during a burglary in the Douglasdale policing precinct last year.

“The suspects have appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court and there is no clarity on the outcome.”
