Bryanston residents encourages to go Mad to save lives on 3 February

BRYANSTON – Residents of Bryanston can look forward to another opportunity to save lives on 3 February at the upcoming Mad Blood Drive.

Gert van Zyl and his NRG Properties team will host their first Making a Difference (Mad) blood drive this year on 3 February at the New Beginnings Pilates Studio at the Riverside Shopping Centre.

This is Van Zyl’s fifth blood drive, after collecting 230 units of blood at four drives in Bryanston last year.

“We have a good thing going and we have to keep it alive,” said Van Zyl. “Each and every person who attends the events motivate me to carry on.”

He added that they needed about 100 people to attend each drive for it to be successful because it was not always possible for all the people who get tested to donate.

“I would love it if we could get the community a bit more involved to volunteer at the next blood drive with us. It will help to make the community feel like they own this event.”

The drive creates a suitable location for residents of Bryanston to regularly donate blood as they arrange four drives each year.

“We want people in Bryanston to get into a habit of donating blood regularly since this is the most convenient place for Bryanston residents to donate,” said Van Zyl. After the popular Bryanston park run on a Saturday, they invite runners to visit the Riverside Shopping Centre and do their bit to save lives.

Gert van Zyl, organiser of the Mad Blood Drive in Bryanston, encourages residents to play their part in saving lives by participating in the upcoming drive on 3 February.

Donors can also look forward to a variety of exciting lucky draw prizes which will be up for grabs on the day.
