Suspect arrested for stolen motor vehicle

SANDTON – The Sandton police recently arrested a suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

The Sandton police arrested a 33-year-old suspect for possession of a stolen motor vehicle on 9 January in Buccleuch.

Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for Sandton police, confirmed the arrest. “Security officers requested police backup for a suspicious vehicle they came across in the Buccleuch area,” he said.

Meyer said on their arrival the police officers found the security officers at the scene with the suspect in the car. “After further enquiries, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen in Midrand.”

Meyer added that the suspect was due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 10 January.

In addition, the Sandton police made nine arrests for various offences.

  • 7 arrested for drugs
  • 1 for theft
  • 1 for common assault.
