Mnangagwa to reportedly take the reigns in Zimbabwe

HARARE – Sacked Zimbabwean vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa reportedly to be inaugurated as interim president.

Known as The Crocodile, sacked Zimbabwean vice-president, Emmerson Mnangagwa has reportedly returned to take control of a country in turmoil.

According to a tweet from the Zimbabwe government, the 75-year-old will be appointed interim Zimbabwe president tomorrow bringing to an end the Robert Mugabe rule which lasted more than 30 years.

Reassuring Zimbabwe nationals, the government once again announced that Mugabe was ‘alive and well’ and currently housed at a presidential residence outside of the capital city, Harare. This after the military seized all national key points and placed under arrest a number of officials.

Reportedly, the first lady, Grace Mugabe, had fled to Namibia on Wednesday but those reports were immediately refuted by Zimbabwean newspaper publisher, Trevor Ncube saying she was at her husband’s side.

No stranger to controversy, Grace was recently accused of assaulting South African model Gabriella Engels with an electrical extension cord at a Sandton hotel. Denying any wrongdoing, Mugabe said she acted in self-defence and was granted immunity by the South African International Relations Minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.

With a new dawn in Zimbabwe, some have raised concerns and accused the military of working with a faction of the ruling Zanu-PF party, stating that contrary to popular belief, the army was only looking after their share of the gravy train.

Earlier today, Mnangagwa took to twitter saying he would address the nation at the appropriate time.
