New headmaster for Sandton Primary School

SANDTON – Sandton Primary School is excited to welcome William Castle as the new principal.

Sandton Primary School is excited about the appointment of its new headmaster, William Castle, who will take up the leadership role from the start of the third school term.

The multi-cultural school situated in the heart of Sandton was without a principal for its first two years of existence, with owner of the school, Nadya Katz fulfilling the role of acting principal.

Katz said, “Sandton Primary is excited to welcome Castle to the school family. He has been in education for 40 years and his reputation in the education world speaks for itself. He has dedicated his life to education and we could not find a more knowledgeable and experienced person to head up our school.”

She jumped at the opportunity to offer Castle the job after he retired as principal of St David’s Marist Inanda in August.

Castle began teaching at St David’s in 1978 and worked his way up the ladder to become principal in his final year of employment at the school.

“I have been in education all my life and still have the energy, interest and passion to continue for more years. I’m excited to take up the position as headmaster at Sandton Primary because it is a stand-alone primary school. It is a small school and there is a lot more personal involvement between families, staff and pupils here,” said Castle.

Castle aims to build up enrolment while still keeping classes small. “I want to make Sandton Primary recognised as a good academic institution with an holistic approach to education that ensures that both genders can enter good high schools.”

He described the school as ‘truly South African’, with affordable fees and enrolment of children of all races an nationalities. The new principal hopes to expand the school’s cultural programme and extra-curricular activities.

Castle also urged parents to visit the school for tours during the day.
