Studying abroad is a viable choice

SANDTON – Buccleuch resident Karabo Robaya shares his experience of studying abroad.

For many young South Africans, studying at university is a lifelong goal that only a lucky few can enjoy, nevermind having the opportunity to study in the USA.

Karabo Robaya is one of those lucky few who secured a place in an American university through EducationUSA.

EducationUSA is a US Department of State network of more than 400 international student advising centres in more than 170 countries. The network promotes US higher education to students around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive and current information about opportunities to study at accredited post-secondary institutions in the US. It also provides services to the US higher education community to help institutional leaders meet their recruitment and campus internationalisation goals.

Buccleuch resident Robaya, who recently returned from the US after graduating cum laude from the Alabama State University wanted to share his story of academic success with Sandton Chronicle readers. “Applying to US universities with the help of the organisation made the application process clearer and allowed me to meet other South African students who were also going to America,” said Robaya.

Robaya, who studied accounting on a full scholarship at Alabama State University, graduated summa cum laude.
