Gauteng Kidney Association needs your help

RIVONIA – The Gauteng Kidney Association needs your support as they host the Big Top Rock show at the Barnyard Theatre on 4 November as a much-needed fundraiser for the association.

The Gauteng Kidney Association (GKA) requests support from the public and corporate sector as they host the Big Top Rock show at the Barnyard Theatre in Rivonia on 4 November as a much-needed fundraiser for the association.

The musical circus production features daring international aerial acts, music and dance routines and is a sequel to the popular Rock Circus concert enjoyed in 2012. The concert will also include a number of lucky draws, prizes, gifts, and raffles on the night to make the event even more memorable.

The association is a non-profit organisation which assists with the welfare of less fortunate renal patients in Gauteng. It is a volunteer-run organisation which relies on sponsorship from the community to continue their work in assisting patients with renal failure.

The association’s fundraiser, June Giovannoni said, “There are more or less 500 renal failure patients receiving dialysis at Gauteng provincial hospitals alone… Most of these patients are unemployed due to chronic renal failure and have only the government social welfare grant on which to survive.”

The GKA offers a monthly transport subsidy to contribute towards the costs of commuting to the hospital for dialysis three times a week for these patients. The association also provides food vouchers to patients who are in need, a support group for individuals with renal failure, as well as awareness campaigns to educate the community about kidney failure and organ donation.

The concert falls on the association’s 30th birthday and they would also like to give tickets to many of the patients they assist. They do, however, have to rely on the generosity of the public to provide these sponsorships.

The association also challenges corporates to partner with them by booking tables or sponsoring prizes for the event. Tables range from eight to 14 people. The public is encouraged to support this worthwhile cause by attending or helping patients to attend the event.

Details: Tickets cost R185 per person and people may bring their own food or purchase pizza at the event on the night. To book tickets or assist with sponsorship, contact June on 074 559 5500 or email june.g@telkomsa.net
