Man to appear in court over death of Metro police officer

SANDTON – A man will appear in Randburg Magistrates' Court this week after bumping and killing a Metro police officer.

 

A man will appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court this week after allegedly hitting, and subsequently killing, Alcan Miso (42), a Metro police officer.

Spokesperson for Metro police, Wayne Minnaar said the incident occurred in the afternoon on 1 September at the intersection of M1 North and the Marlboro off-ramp in Sandton.

Minnaar said, “The officer was bumped from behind by a VW Touareg at about 4.30pm whilst the he was wearing a reflective jacket and directing traffic.

“The male driver was arrested on the scene and will have to face charges of culpable homicide as well as reckless and negligent driving.”

Metro police officer Alcan Miso is killed while directing traffic.

Miso leaves behind a wife and three children. More information will be published as it becomes available.
