A suspect was shot and killed following a shooting incident on the N1 near the Rivonia Road exit in Sandton this afternoon (6 September).
Captain Kay Makhubela, Gauteng police spokesperson, confirmed the shooting.
No shots were fired by the police.
“The suspects followed a man from the bank and robbed him in Randpark Ridge,” he said.
“The victim was armed and shot at the suspects as they were making their getaway. One suspect was shot and killed.”
Makhubela said the suspects’ vehicle was a Honda, stolen in Olifantsfontein.
“The victim called in a look-out on the suspects’ vehicle which police followed up on,” explained Makhubela.
He added it is alleged there were three suspects.
“Two of the suspects dumped the vehicle on Rivonia Road in Sandton, where one of the suspects was found dead in the vehicle.”
