UPDATE: Labour Law Services continue to stumble and frustrate the public

RIVONIA – Labour Law Services are still not giving answers and continue to fall short of good service.

The ongoing saga with Labour Law Services is gaining momentum as more people come forward.

This after the article, Still waiting for CCMA payout, was published in the Sandton Chronicle, Week ending 19 May, which detailed how Melissa Sittig was unfairly dismissed and approached Labour Law Services to help her receive compensation from the CCMA.

Labour Law Services have allegedly lost Sittig’s documents numerous times, management never gets back to her and they have informed her that her case has been closed, despite winning the settlement and not receiving any cash. Pragasan Pillay has now also come forward to divulge his experience with Labour Law Services in Rivonia. Pillay was dismissed in March and went to Labour Law Services for assistance.

Pillay added, “I won my case at the CCMA and was awarded an amount in the sum of R24 000. After numerous phone calls to them to enquire about the money and payment to me, they informed me that the matter had now been handed to the revenue service department and the person to speak with was Trey.”

Pillay called Trey and was informed that he was busy and was told to call him back. After a number of attempts to contact Trey again, Pillay was brought to a point where he had had enough and decided to visit the offices.

“I have not seen the settlement letter or anything as Trey said they cannot locate my file. I am still unemployed and am finding everything very difficult. Labour Law Services are very unprofessional. Whenever I call the office I am informed that the person I am looking for is busy and will call me back, which never happens.”

Jessica Zuppa has also come forward with similar claims against Labour Law Services. She said, “We received a welcome letter from Labour Law Services on 13 October last year. The matter was settled… on 21 February, and as per our sources, Labour Law received payments from my previous employer. Since then I have struggled to get answers or any indication as to when I will be receiving the money.”

According to Zuppa, there is an independent person who makes the payments, however, those details are not given out. Zuppa added, “They don’t have the number but apparently they are following up – I have no idea how they are following up if they don’t have the details.

“Trey, who apparently works for the revenue department, never returns calls or emails. They are unable to give me the owner of the company’s details to allow me to escalate the matter. In fact, the receptionist is extremely rude.”

Sandton Chronicle has made numerous attempts to contact Labour Law Services, including phone calls, emails and approaching the company face-to-face, however, every attempt has failed.
