Warning of new crime trend targeting men at nightclubs

SANDTON – Sandton police have issued a warning to the community following a few cases of men being robbed after visiting a club.

 

The Sandton police have issued a warning of a new crime trend that targets men at clubs.

Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for the Sandton police said in a recent case a man met two women at a club who offered to go home with him. “When they got to the victim’s place, they poured him a drink and he passed out.

“The victim woke up in the early hours of the morning and the ladies were gone. The suspects had cleaned out his house and took cellphones, laptops, televisions and other appliances,” said Mothapo.

He added that police suspected more people were involved in this crime other than the two suspects.

Mothapo confirmed that there have been similar cases reported at the station.
