Bramley Police Station crime update and successes

BRAMLEY – Bramley police have arrested 39 suspects the past week.

Bramley Police Station had its hands full over the past week with 39 suspects arrested for various offences.

Captain Molefe Mogodi, Johannesburg North Cluster communication coordinator, said police were called to the scene of an accident along the M1 South freeway on 14 May. “It was alleged that there was a Volkswagen Polo which was driving along the M1 freeway facing the on-coming traffic,” he said.

“It is not clear yet as to what happened but it is believed that the driver of the Polo might have lost control of the vehicle and then collided with another vehicle which was travelling along the same road in the Johannesburg direction.”

Mogodi added that it was later discovered that the Polo had been hijacked in Katlehong on the same night. The two suspects and the occupants of the other vehicle lost their lives.

“Police are still investigating the case and the circumstances surrounding the cause of the whole accident and any person who might have witnessed what had happened is encouraged to come forward and notify the police,” said Mogodi.

The following arrests for crimes were made in the past week:

  • 2 for malicious damage to property
  • 2 for shoplifting
  • 2 for common assault
