JMPD warn motorists of heavy traffic from Houghton to Westpark Cemetery for Ahmed Kathrada’s funeral
SANDTON – Metro police have warned motorist to avoid areas surrounding Westpark Cemetery due to the funeral procession taking place today.
Metro police have warned motorists to avoid certain roads today due to the funeral procession of the late Ahmed Kathrada.
The procession will proceed from Houghton, down First Avenue where it will join the M1 south towards Empire Road. From there it will move onto Barry Hertzhog Avenue, Judith Avenue and onto Beyers Naude Drive up to Westpark Cemetery.
The funeral procession will take place from 8.30am until 10am.
Edna Mamonyane, spokesperson for Metro police said, “Metro are on the route and assisting with traffic calming in the area.”
