JOHANNESBURG – Miss Earth South Africa is passionate about making our beloved country greener and they are on the hunt for some new ambassadors. Are you what they are looking for?
Climate change has been a hot topic of interest, from Hollywood celebrities, such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Emma Watson, to activists and the everyday individual.
Creating awareness has become an all-important task, so it’s no surprise that the work done by Miss Earth South Africa ambassadors across the country has shifted into high gear.
The 2017 Miss Earth South Africa, now in its 14th year, empowers SA women to become advocates for climate change awareness, recycling, food security, water stewardship, waste management and energy efficiency. Miss Earth SA will be championing the #WasteStopsWithMe campaign this year in collaboration with the City of Johannesburg, Tsogo Sun and Pikitup.

The programme aims to develop the minds of the youth and inspire young women to create greener cities. The award-winning duo, Ella Bella and Catherine Constantinides are the executive directors of the Miss Earth South Africa leadership programme and they continue to grow their footprint across the continent working on Miss Earth Zambia, Miss Earth Namibia and Miss Earth Mozambique.
These two powerful women envision a continental network of young climate leaders. “It starts with us and, as women, we are the movers and shakers of communities,” the duo explained.
“So it’s up to us to shake things up and get people thinking about ways in which we can have less of an impact on the world around us. When we look after Mother Earth she is then able to sustain and look after us.”

National workshops and castings will take place weekly across the country at Tsogo Sun venues during April and May and will focus on waste management, separation at source, recycling, climate change and food security.
