Spur Montrose Challenge is near the finish line

JOBURG– The Spur Montrose Night Challenge at Montrose Primary is little over a week away from the final night on 10 March.

 

The Spur Montrose Night Challenge at Montrose Primary School is little over a week away from the final night of cricket on 10 March.

The weather allowed all the cricket boys to strut their stuff on 24 February for the fifth week of the challenge. Crawford Sandton won their match against Alex Schools XI by 13 runs in the 20-over match. Lesego Kokothlabana of Alex Schools XI won Cutty Man of the Match for his knock of 65 runs, while Jordan Meyers of Crawford Sandton won DJ Coaching Hero for his 61.

Bryandale beat Crawford Lonehill by one run. Ross Lawlor of Bryandale won Cutty Man of the Match for bowling figures of 2/8 in three overs and Connor Townshend of Crawford Lonehill was awarded DJ Coaching Hero of the Match for his great run out.

Bryanston won their match against Crawford Fourways. Lungelo Gumede of Bryanston won Cutty Man of the Match for his innings of 71 while Siddarth Naik of Crawford Fourways won DJ Coaching Hero of the Match for scoring 54.

In the fourth and final match between Rivonia and Bryneven, the match was a draw and called for a Super Over as both teams scored 142 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Bryneven took home the win as they outscored their opponents. Ethan Jooste of Bryneven was named Cutty Man of the Match for scoring 50 runs, while Luke Oosthuizen of Rivonia was named DJ Coaching Hero of the Match for bowling figures of 3/14 in four overs.

The Spur Montrose Night challenge will continue on 3 March as 16 schools come face to face to see who will play in the final.
