Cleaning up the mean streets

SANDTON – Undesirable criminal elements that roam neighbourhoods are no match for private security firms, as evidenced by the arrests 7Arrows made in Sandton and Morningside recently.

A security company arrested a known suspect and broke up an illegal gambling ring earlier this month after deploying its task team in Sandton and Morningside to sniff out suspicious activity.

Jason Mordecai, 7Arrows Security’s chief operating officer said, “We urge residents to keep their eyes open and to stay alert. If what you observe makes you concerned about safety, report it to 7Arrows.”

The team, with help from other security companies, tailed a white Lexus on 3 February that had been linked to crimes in Sandton and arrested the driver. He was later handed to Sandton police for questioning and profiling.

During another recent operation, a 7Arrows team patrolling along Bowling Avenue on foot searched the Morningside Manor green belt area and disbanded an illegal gambling ring near the post office. Up to 30 people were found there.

“In today’s landscape, information is a critical element to fighting crime. Being informed allows you to know what criminals are doing and what they are planning to do next,” Mordecai said.

“The team puts in many hours to investigate and prepare for such operations. When our teams’ goals are met we are satisfied that our hard work has been worthwhile.”
