House intruder shot dead

MARLBORO – A suspected house robber has died, allegedly after being shot by the owner of the house.

 

A man has been shot and killed, allegedly during an attempted housebreaking on 31 January in Marlboro.

Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for Sandton Police Station said, “The complainant alleges that he heard people trying to break into his house. He fired one shot at the suspects, after which the suspects ran away.”

Mothapo said that when the complainant opened the door, he found one of the suspects lying dead in front of his door.

“A pick handle, presumably used to break-in, was found next to the suspect.”

A case of housebreaking and an inquest docket has been opened.

The other suspects are still at large.
