Sandton Convention Centre’s general manager, Shaun Bird, expressed his view on Hoosen’s appointment and said, “This dynamic woman brings her own brand of wisdom to the role and believes that the meetings industry is one of the key drivers of development in the business tourism sector, and has the capacity to bring important business opportunities, knowledge sharing and economic growth to the broader economy.”

Bird added that they were looking forward to Hoosen taking their international sales to new heights.

Hoosen is an avid follower of industry trends and developments, and thrives in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

She said she was driven by the never-ending challenge of selling space and was always looking for better ways to prospect, engage people, overcome obstacles, and beat tough competitors.

“I am very aware of the contribution that so many have made in my working life here at the convention centre from the car guard to the operations team, the events team, the sales and marketing team, and senior management. Their patience and the knowledge they have shared over the years is very valuable, and much appreciated,” concluded Hoosen.
