ADvTECH awards its matric achievers

SANDTON — Crawford pupil is brightest of them all

ADvTECH Group, a leader in private education and resourcing, held its 8th annual top achiever awards ceremony at a prestigious event at the Maslow Hotel.

The group honoured the top 15 matric achievers within its schools’ division: Abbotts College, Trinity House Randpark Ridge, Crawford schools, Southdowns College, and the Olympus and Ruimsig Maragon campuses.

“Success comes with very hard work, so this is a great way to honour our top achievers for their efforts,” said John Luis, the group’s schools’ division head of academics. Last year, the group’s schools had 1 636 full-time matrics who achieved 2 540 distinctions.

Schools’ division CEO Alex Isaakidis said 215 matrics had an 80 per cent average for their results, and 83 per cent received bachelor’s passes. “They are not only successful students, they are able to graduate and find jobs that contribute to their independence and allow them to contribute to the society in which they live,” he said.

The achievers received their awards in the presence of their parents and guests. “The top students also get to invite a teacher that they feel played an important role in their achievements to join them. So it’s very special for the teachers as well, and it reminds them that their hard work is appreciated,” said Luis.

Dharshana Moodliar, a pupil at Crawford College in Sandton, took the overall top achievers award with eight distinctions. As she could not be present, her father Deena accepted the award on her behalf. “She’s been rewarded what she deserved and am I proud? Absolutely,” he said.

Principal Morag Rees said of Moodliar, “I’m incredibly proud. She’s the most wonderful child. She’s not just incredibly hard working, but she has the most beautiful nature. I think this is so well-deserved.”

Isaakidis concluded, “We monitor our students’ progress even after they have left our schools and many move on to become successful leaders. That is what distinguishes us from many other schools.”
