A senior professor at Wits University has been accused of sexual harassment and is currently being investigated.
According to reports, three women have come forward alleging that the professor had offered help in the institution in exchange for sexual activities. He’s also been accused of inappropriate conduct including making comments with sexual innuendo. The women allege that he would also invite them to meet at restaurants on Friday evenings.
Spokesperson for the institution, Shirona Patel, said that a complaint was laid at the university’s gender equity office and an independent person would investigate the matter further. In reports, she added that the university cannot comment further until the matter has been concluded.
