Sandton Police Station successes

SANDTON – The Sandton Police Station enjoyed various successes with 41 arrests made in the last week.

 

Sandton Police Station reported 41 successful arrests during the past week for various crimes committed in the area.

Constable David Mothapo, spokesperson for the police station said, “One man was arrested for sexual assault for a case which happened in September 2016. The victim stated she was visiting her cousin and went to bed in the early morning in September. The victim woke up when she realised someone was trying to undress her and an unknown man was trying to remove her underwear.”

He said the suspect ran away after realising she had woken up.

“The 45-year-old suspect was recently arrested and appeared in Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 20 January. We have arrested eight people for possession of dagga, one person for murder and four people for assault.”

Among the arrests were:

  • 6 arrests for theft
  • 6 arrests for fraud
  • 4 arrests for shoplifting
  • 1 arrest for theft of motor vehicle
  • 1 arrest for housebreaking and theft
  • 1 arrest for defeating the ends of justice
  • 2 arrests for possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 1 arrest for theft out of motor vehicle
  • 4 arrests of illegal immigrants.
