When asked how he achieved this highly admirable achievement, Mazabow said, “I knew I needed to start working hard early as I had taken on a lot of work so I already began in Grade 10. I had to keep the mentality to work hard and be consistent. I would never leave work for the last minute and made sure I was up-to-date every day and in every subject.”

It was this hard work and determination that put Mazabow in the position of top performing matric in Gauteng. “You have to have the correct mindset and to remember how important it all is. Make it count and take it seriously.”

MEC Panyaza Lesufi acknowledged Mazabow’s success and added, “I applaud Mazabow for being the province’s top achiever and of the quality education that we have promised our people of Gauteng irrespective of race, colour or class.”
