Sandton police arrested two suspects on Friday during stop-and-search operations in Bryanston.
The officers stopped a blue Audi and searched it. Sandton police spokesperson Constable David Mothapo said, “Two firearms were recovered from the car, a Norinco with 25 rounds and a .35 with six rounds. The serial numbers on both firearms were filed off.”
Mothapo said the Audi had a second number plate in the boot. “Upon investigation, it was found that the vehicle was hijacked in Florida in November last year.”
The suspects are being detained at the Sandton Police Station and will be charged with two counts of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of a stolen vehicle.
