Car jamming in Rivonia

SANDTON – A Sandton resident was left shocked after her car was jammed at an Engen garage on Rivonia Road.

Another case of vehicle jamming has come to light after a video was posted on social media.

The incident happened at around 7.30am on 10 January when a Sandton resident, Jessica Worth, stopped to buy lunch at the Engen Garage on the corner of 4th Avenue and Rivonia Road. Worth said, “I parked right in front of the garage, in full view of the garage. I have parked here many times before.

“I got out of my car, locked it while I was still standing next to my door and then walked off into the Woolworths convenience store to buy something for lunch.”

According to Worth, she was inside the store for about 10 minutes and had no idea that her car had been jammed. “There was no one in sight who looked suspicious.”

Among the items allegedly stolen was a laptop bag, work tablet, files and documents and a bag of product testers.

Worth only realised that these items were stolen upon her arrival at work when she opened the car boot. “Completely shocked and confused I phoned my boss and work colleague and they told me someone had probably jammed my car somewhere and I should track where I had been.”

Worth met with the manager of the garage who showed her the footage of the suspect opening her car and stealing the items.

“The manager said that it’s happened many times before at the garage and apologised, but that’s about it. I then went straight to the police station and opened a case which is being investigated at the moment but I have heard nothing further.”

A case has been opened at the Sandton Police Station and is currently being investigated.
