The pride and joy of Sandown High

SANDTON – Sandown High School's top achievers share their dreams and passions.

Sandown High School, with a 98 per cent pass rate in the matric final examinations, is exceptionally proud of their two top achievers.
Bongekile Masuku achieved distinctions in English, life orientation and life sciences and she has big dreams for her future. “My goal for the future is to become a successful medical researcher and make a difference in the lives of African people,” she said.

Masuku added that with education, determination and faith, she would be able to make a difference in the world around her. “I knew that I had tried my best throughout the whole year, however, nothing could prepare me for this day,” she said.
“With the support of my parents and incredible teachers, I was able to achieve.”

Another matriculant who excelled was Gloria Leyka. She earned two distinctions in life orientation and history. “My personality and character have always been successfully reflected throughout my academic career.

“I take my academics extremely seriously [and] I do not regard the term ‘education is key’ as a slogan but rather a lifestyle.”
Leyka had many passions that she put into practice during her school years. She said she loved poetry and public speaking and aims to continue her studies at university in the field of law.
