SPCA adapting to change

SANDTON – The Sandton SPCA is adapting to change and will include exciting new revenue activities in 2017.

Sandton SPCA is adapting to change so that it can survive and succeed in tough economic times with the staff gearing up for next year with some exciting revenue-producing activities.

These will include a bookshop with thousands of used books at bargain prices, a shop which sells SPCA-branded merchandise such as caps, mugs and T-shirts, and also a 25-seater facility to hold discussions which will enable visitors to learn about the SPCA.

The association is situated on 9th Street in Marlboro Gardens and its services cover a significant area within the northern, southern and western parts of Johannesburg.

The SPCA has two qualified vets, Dr Deidre Shepherd and Dr Ade Kinch together with two registered assistants, Patrick Mosiapane and Nozipho Moloi. Thanks to Jacky Sharp of Rivonia Vet, the association will open their own X-Ray unit adding a further benefit to the animals.

The Sandton SPCA has up to 80 adorable animals available for adoption at any time and the strict adoption process involves a home visit by inspectors, but it is necessary to first interact with the animals.

The association receives donations and funding entirely from private donors and it also arranges various activities to help fund them such as gift wrapping in malls, markets and jumble sales. It also receives cash donations through organisations such as My School.
