SANDTON – A special event for female empowerment is going to be held in Sandton and all are welcome.

An inspirational Sandton resident who is living with cancer, Addi Lang, will be speaking at the Women Advancement Forum and Awards in Sandton.

The event will take place between 4 and 8 December at the Maslow Hotel, and Lang is determined to use this platform to spread her powerful message on cancer, which is one of the most dreaded diseases around the world.

“Cancer knows no boundaries, no matter how rich or famous, no matter how thin or fat, no matter how healthy or not, no matter what age, no matter what race or gender,” she said.

She explained that the women’s forum was a platform which recognised that female advancement and empowerment was of utmost importance for development and sustainability throughout the world.

“Building on the success of the first and second conferences which took place Berlin, Dubai and Johannesburg [among others]… the simple goal is to create an advanced platform for the formulation of a strategic and realistic approach to women socio-economic and political advancement and emancipation.”

She added that participants would include women from the business world, in politics, wives of public and political office holders, women advocacy groups, career-driven women and many others.

Lang highlighted, “The programme recognises, celebrates, and honours achievements in socio-economic and political empowerment, [the] advancement of women, as well as inspiring and motivating young women or the girl-child. This award has a unique value [and], therefore, offers the opportunity to honour distinguished women from around the world.”

As a cancer ‘warrior’ who also believes she is a victim of medical negligence, Lang dedicates most of her time to speaking at events such as these to inspire all South Africans to live a more fulfilled life. She encourages the public to attend the event and those who are interested can register on the forum’s website.
