BREAKING NEWS: Shootout near Rivonia Primary School
RIVONIA - An armed robbery took place outside Rivonia Primary School earlier today.
An armed robbery took place outside Rivonia Primary School.
Paramedics are currently attending to a seriously injured patient at the scene. A journalist is currently on his way to the scene.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Andre de Klerk from Sandton Police a victim was shot outside the school.
de Klerk said, “A victim has been shot, it is alleged that the suspect wanted a watch from the victim. A fight ensued the victim was shot during the altercation with the suspect. The victim is now stable and has been taken to hospital for further treatment.”
de Klerk further stated that the victim was shot in the leg.
He said, “Three males driving a black BMW 320i robbed a victim and shot him in the leg and they took the watch.”
According to Constable Confie Mawhayi from Sandton Police, the victim was not a parent at the school.
Mawhayi said, “The man who was shot was shopping across the street from the school.”

Vice principal Graham Thick confirmed that it was not a parent at the school.
Max Cohen of EMER-G-MED said, “This afternoon EMER-G-MED paramedics and K9 TEMS unit, alongside Netcare911 paramedics responded to reports of a shooting on 11th Avenue, outside Rivonia Primary School – north of Johannesburg. On arrival paramedics found that a victim, had been shot after an armed robbery and suspected attempted high jacking. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to one of his legs during a scuffle between him and the armed assailants. The suspects managed to escape with the man’s watch. Paramedics stabilised the seriously injured patient, before he was transported to a nearby hospital under Advanced Life Support care for further management. The South African Police Services are on the scene and have opened a criminal case.”
