In a press statement released on 11 October, the entities said, “Johannesburg consumers are not making the required water consumption reduction required to avert a water supply crisis.”

The government entity have reduced their supply from Rand Water by 15% since the initial announcement by MMC Anthony Still.
Johannesburg Water added, “We are now implementing water supply restrictions through reduction of outflows from our reservoirs. This will take place at different times in selected areas daily.”

The entity are constantly monitoring demand and throttling is done as and when there is excessive demand area affected can expect supply during off peak hours.

“The current situation can be salvaged by all consumers restricting their use of water so there can be enough for all”, said the entity.
