March against illegal ivory and lion trade

SANDTON – The Global March for Elephants, Rhinos and Lions recently took place in Sandton.

 

The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos took place in Johannesburg where about 2 000 supporters took to the streets in protest of the rhino horn, ivory and lion trade.

The march was hosted by Youth 4 African Wildlife, a non-profit organisation, and kicked off at George Lea Park in Sandton and went past the Sandton Convention Centre where CoP17 is taking place.

CoP17 is the 17th meeting of the conference of the parties to Cites (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species), the world’s largest wildlife conference.

The event was attended by international media.
