Small business success recognised

SANDTON – The 702 Small Business Awards celebrated gourmet cuisine this year.

A lot of skill and passion goes into running a small business and the 702 Small Business Awards in partnership with Sandton-based accounting software company, Sage One, acknowledged these small businesses at an awards ceremony.

The event took place at the Primedia Building situated on Friedman Drive in Sandton.

These awards encourage members of the public to come forward and nominate small businesses that they feel deserve to be recognised.

The winner of this year’s Small Business Awards was Honeydew-based gourmet food retailer, The Munching Mongoose.

The winner was awarded a laptop and free access to Sage One Accounting and Sage One Payroll software as well as a training course and seminar of their choice. An advertising package to the value of R250 000 was also awarded to The Munching Mongoose.

The co-founder of this small business, Tamryn Dicks said, “We’re overwhelmed to have won. We love that as a result of our service, families spend quality time together centred around great food. We’re humbled that our customers enjoy this offering enough to have nominated us for the award.”

In light of this prestigious award ceremony, the head of Sage One, Steven Cohen, expressed his views on running a business.

“Like many of the businesses we serve, we started small and have grown beyond what seemed unimaginable. [A] key lesson I have learnt from the past 26 years is that it takes hard work and human sacrifice to turn a dream business idea into a way of life.”
