R1 million reward for sabotage information

JOBURG – Telkom is offering a R1 million reward for anyone who can come forward with information on the sabotage of their infrastructure.

Telkom is appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the damage of their infrastructure to come forward.

According to a statement released by Telkom, in recent weeks, the company has experienced an increase in acts of sabotage since the beginning of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) strike over four weeks ago.

Telkom is offering a R1 million reward for anyone who has information which could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.

On 30 August, services in Limpopo suffered a serious network failure following acts of sabotage on the Telkom network in Polokwane.

“More than 50 000 customers who include business, government and residential clients were left without voice and data connectivity when saboteurs cut the Telkom fibre cables in the Roedtan, Nylstroom and Potgieterus areas,” read a statement issued by Telkom.

Telkom employees affiliated to CWU downed tools over an 11 percent wage increase and demanded six months paid maternity leave for women staff.

Details: Any person who has information can contact the Telkom crime reporting line on 0800 124 000.
