Ward 103 councillor on a mission

SANDTON – Vincent Earp is on a mission to clean up his areas and resolve problems.

Vincent Earp, the re-elected ward councillor for Ward 103, has big plans for the future.

“My plan going forward is to ensure that residents get the municipal services they deserve and expect as ratepayers of the city,” said Earp.

He believes that residents have made their voices heard by coming out in their numbers to vote in the Local Municipal Elections and believes that, as a representative of the residents, he will continue to escalate poor service delivery issues.

“I will be concentrating on service delivery issues such as water, electricity and Pikitup [complaints]. I also want to see the widening of Ballyclaire Drive, push for traffic lights at problematic intersections and organise the prompt removal of rubble that is illegally dumped.”

Earp is determined to see a resolution to the taxi problems in his ward and wants to facilitate the removal of the illegal taxi rank on William Nicol Drive.

The issue of displaced persons is one that Earp feels needs to be addressed with immediate effect. He said, “I hope that we can find a solution to the homeless problem by building shelters in the different regions of the city [Johannesburg] where the homeless can be taken when removed from public open spaces.”

The ward councillor stressed that he wants to see a more consistent application of the City’s bylaws. “We need to ensure that Metro and City departments apply bylaws properly and fairly.”

Earp said that in the future, he will concentrate on several issues that road users have, such as potholes. “I also want to concentrate on ensuring that the streetlights [are] repaired regularly.”

Earp added that he wants residents to see a difference in the areas they reside and work in.
