Vuwani robbery suspects bust in Marlboro.

MARLBORO – Police nab two Vuwani business robbers in Marlboro.

Two men accused of robbing a business and making off with a stolen bakkie in Vuwani finally had their day in court to face their charges. The two appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 1 August after they were allegedly caught with a stolen Toyota Hilux by two Ekurhuleni Metro police officers in Marlboro.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, explained that the two officers had received information on the suspected stolen bakkie. “The officers then followed up on this information and, while patrolling in the area, came across the Hilux with the men sitting inside the car.”

“When the accused saw the police, they allegedly got out of the car and tried to run away but the officers managed to apprehend them and take the car in for testing.”

It was discovered that the bakkie had been stolen during the alleged business robbery, and it was then that the two men were taken to the Bramley Police Station, where they were detained and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Maphakela confirmed that the two have since been denied bail following their court appearance and are set to appear in court again next month. “The two have also been returned to Vuwani, where they were also charged with an armed robbery at a business,” he explained. The case continues.
