Actors needed for play in Sandton

The African Ruby Theatre is on the hunt for three talented actors to play Reeva Steenkamp, Zanele Khumalo and Anni Dewani in Heaven Can Wait during mid-October.

The person taking the role of Khumalo needs to be aged between 17 and 24, while those taking the roles of Steenkamp and Dewani need to be aged between 23 and 35.

Heaven Can Wait sees Steenkamp, Khumalo and Dewani wrestle with reasons for their abuse at the hands of those who ‘loved’ them. Meanwhile, their fathers question why the women could not read the signs and thwart the senseless violence.

The second half of the production has elements of black comedy and sharp dissections of racial and gender politics in contemporary South Africa.The African Ruby Theatre has been a nationally touring company which found its permanent home in The Study, at The Bridge Shopping Centre in Buccleuch. The Study transforms into a 100-seater theatre space at night.

Heaven Can Wait is the premiere show at the venue mid-October.
