The film is set in 2003 and 19-year-old Dap Smit (played by Edwin van der Walt) is constantly fighting with his father, Dawid (played by Stian Bam), a veteran of the Border War. The men don’t see eye to eye on anything, and there seems to be no hope for reconciliation between them.

Dawid’s wife, Carina (played by Erica Wessels) is caught in the middle of their epic battle.

Van der Walt said that making of this film was a very personal experience for him and that he learnt a lot about love, relationships and the truth. “This film forms part of a specific season in my life and to play with my mentor, Stian Bam, will always be one of the highlights of my career.”

Peter Lamberti, producer of My Father’s War is a Sandton resident who has achieved great success in the film industry. After spending six years in the South African Special Forces, Lamberti learnt to (quite literally) be one with the bush. Returning to civilian life he became a wildlife photographer and filmmaker who was eager to tell stories that reflected his love of the wild. And so, in 1990, he founded Aquavision Television Productions.
