SANDTON – Two Saint Stithians cricketers have succeeded in their sport and done their school proud.

 

Two St Stithians College cricketers, one former and one current, did their school proud at the Cricket South Africa Awards.

St Stithians College alumnus Kagiso Rabada made history at the awards banquet by winning a record six awards which included SA Cricketer of the Year and Castle Lager Cricketer of the Year.

Dave Knowles, the head of the boys’ college said, “We have been delighted to see Kagiso performing so impressively for our country. The fact that he has won these awards is a wonderful celebration of his years of hard work and his dedication to his sport.”

He added that the school was very proud of the young sportsman, not only for his achievements but also for the young man he had become.

Current St Stithians cricket star, Wiaan Mulder, also received high accolades from Cricket South Africa at the awards. Mulder won the awards for Coca-Cola U19 Cricketer of the Year; Coca-Cola Schools T20 Cricketer of the Year; and Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week Player of the Tournament.

“Like Kagiso, [Mulder] has maintained a level of humility and gratitude that is admirable. We expect great things from him in the future,” said Knowles.

The school’s cricket coach, Wim Jansen said, “We are super excited [about Mulder and Rabada]. It’s amazing and fantastic news and a feather in the caps of everyone at Saints who has had a hand in the careers of these two talented young men.

“We are all very excited and we look forward to seeing what these two… will do in the future.”
