SANDTON – The Sandton area has been a hive of activity this week, especially from a news perspective. We've rounded up a few of our top stories that you may have missed.

A horrific incident occurred in the streets of Sandton this week when hijackers attempted to flee police. A shootout ensued and tragically, a motorcyclist lost his life during the incident. The story Bloodbath on Republic was the top performing story for the week.

The informal taxi rank across the road from Bryanston High School has become an issue with residents and ward councillors. The community is working on sorting it out.

Another tragedy struck Sandton when the vice-chairman of Advertising Media Association South African, Gordon Patterson was mercilessly gunned down during a driveway robbery at his home.

On a lighter note, we’re happy to report that the University of the Witwatersrand has been ranked as the top university in the country.

The community is encouraged to get involved and check out the Guide-Dogs market day on 31 July to raise funds for the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind.
