Public warned of morning robbery gangs

ALEXANDRA – Police warn community members about gangs said to be on morning robbery prowls.

Local motorists, pedestrians and delivery vehicle drivers who travel in the early morning in Alexandra are urged to be extra cautious of two youthful gangs committing robberies.

The warning comes from the Alexandra Police Station’s acting commander, Colonel Nhluvuko Zondi, who said the gangs, which operated separately, robbed pedestrians walking to work, delivery vans of money and goods and also robbed motorists at intersections and robots.

She said the gangs operated in groups of two or three persons and there is a possibility that the gangs may be linked.

Zondi appealed to those who are victimised by, or know of, the groups to contact the police immediately.
