Here’s what EFF has to offer Sandton

SANDTON – EFF councillor candidate Levy Thobejane outlines his plans for Ward 103.

With less than a month to go before the municipal elections, the electioneering campaigns are heating up.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) candidate for Ward 103, Levy Thobejane said he was the right candidate to lead this ward forward.

Thobejane added that he has been a resident of Sandton for almost 19 years and believes he knows about all the challenges residents face. He said he was ready to resolve any problems with the City Council should he be elected as the ward’s councillor on 3 August.

Thobejane said one thing that he would push to change was the operational times of the public clinic. “Right now, we only have one clinic that operates from 9am to 2.30pm at Mandela Square. What must happen to people who get sick at night?” Thobejane questioned. He said the clinic should be open for 24 hours every day, including weekends.

He mentioned that another issue he wanted to tackle was the estimated billing system. He said for accuracy, meter readings would be physically read every month. “At the same time, we will create employment for our community members. Those meter readings will be done by them.”

Levy Thobejane is a councillor candidate for the EFF in Ward 103 for the upcoming local government electionS on 3 August.

He said neglected and abandoned public open spaces would be a thing of the past. “I will make sure that City Parks does its job. All parks and open spaces in our ward will be clean at all times. No vagrants will live in parks.”

As his party is notorious for land invasions, Thobejane said residents need not fear that their land would be illegally invaded. “We are not targeting personal stands. We want those huge open lands like that one in Kelvin.” Efforts to establish the owner of the said land proved fruitless.

Thobejane claimed to have been working very hard on the ground, convincing voters to vote for him and his party. He said he had been conducting door-to-door campaigns and was always well received. “The response has been good, I have 7 000 people who promised to vote for me.”

Suburbs that fall under ward 103 are Bryanston, Morningside, River Club, Benmore Gardens, Parkmore, Sandhurst, Hurl Park, Dalecross, Little Fillan, Sandown and some parts of Strathavon.
