5 injured in taxi collision

WOODMEAD – Five people were injured on the morning of 13 July after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided at the R55 and Woodmead Drive intersection in Woodmead.

ER24 reported that paramedics arrived on the scene to find the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the intersection.

On inspection, the medical personnel discovered that the drivers of both vehicles were in a critical condition, and the taxi driver was still trapped inside his vehicle.

Rescue medics from ER24 used specialised rescue tools to extricate the man. Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided them with numerous advanced life support interventions.

Three other patients from the taxi were found walking around on the scene and were assessed. They had sustained minor injuries.

Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment by various services.

The exact details are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
