Construction on Ballyclare Drive nearing completion

BRYANSTON – Construction on Ballyclare Drive to be completed by first week in July.

Construction taking place on Ballyclare Drive has been the cause of numerous power outages and water cuts in the past months.

Recent rain storms saw the collapse of the road between Ballina and St Audley Roads, but there is light at the end of the tunnel according to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and Ward 103 councillor Vincent Earp.

The agency’s spokesperson Bertha Peter-Scheepers said, “The Ballyclare Drive construction is at an advanced stage and we expect completion by the end of June. We sincerely apologise for the delay necessitating the movement of a power line adjacent to the construction site.

“JRA engaged with City Power who have undertaken to relocate the line. We look forward to providing residents with a quality road and stormwater infrastructure and apologise for the inconvenience due to the construction delay.”

Ward 103 councillor Vincent Earp went into further detail regarding the work being carried out on Ballyclare Drive. “The work on Ballyclare Drive is nearing completion,” he said.

“They temporarily stopped work to do some rock blasting. This has been completed and all pipes should be in place and working by the first week of July.”

He added that once contractors had finished laying pipes they would repair the road properly. “At the moment, it is still a nightmare on certain sections of Ballyclare. Hopefully by the first week of July some normality will be restored.”
