The gift of giving

SANDTON – Members of imagine.nation have a fun day to celebrate a huge, charitable achievement.

In the Sandton Chronicle article, Educational Charity work done, Week ending 22 April, the generous efforts of a volunteer association, imagine.nation was described.

These volunteers from Sandton worked on Boitshepo Crèche in Lanseria and completely transformed it from a dilapidated shack into a safe, warm crèche.

To celebrate this achievement, imagine.nation planned a fun day at the crèche on 4 June.

Mandy Benjamin, an imagine.nation volunteer said, “The objective of the fun day was to brighten up the new school with fun colours and the volunteers wanted to bond with the children and, most importantly, provide the final necessities required to get this crèche off the ground.”

She said that tables and chairs were provided for the classes, blackboards were painted on the walls and much-needed food and treats were provided for the children.

“From a small tin shack, we have come a long way to creating a much better environment. Our final obstacle remains coming up with an affordable solution for better sanitation with limited access to running water,” explained Benjamin.

She said that the volunteer’s favourite part of their work is ‘seeing the children and getting friends involved’.

“Once you have visited one of the crèches you can’t help but want to be part of making a difference. The future prosperity of our country lies in each one of our hands and everyone has the ability to contribute towards a brighter future.”
