Substation fire causes widespread power outage

SANDTON - A fire at the Khayisa Substation in Bryanston has left many residents without power.

The Khanyisa substation in Bryanston caught fire on 22 May, leaving many residents without electricity.

City Power spokesperson Yumna Sheikh has said emergency services were on site. “At present it is unclear the extent of the damage caused, and we therefore cannot determine an expected time of restoration,” Sheikh said.

Area affected by the substation fire are Bryanston, Mill Hill, Vandia Grove, Solridge and Country Life Park.
