Seven years of service

Sandton – Ward 91 councillor Andrew Stewart explained what his achievements have been over the past seven years.

Although Andrew Stewart has successfully held the position of Ward 91 councillor for the past seven years, he will be replaced in August, having decided to resume work in public relations.

When asked what he wants to be remembered for, the DA councillor said, “One of my achievements was the implementation of new water pipe infrastructure in Strathaven. The water issues in that area have been resolved and new PVC piping has been installed in other areas such as Illovo and Inanda.”

Stewart worked very hard on the Number 3 Square Sports Ground in Alexandra. “The Number 3 Square Sports Grounds in Alex has finally been repaired after seven years of neglect. Total Sports and the South African Football Association (Safa) have revamped the area and have also converted parts of it into a community centre. It will be used to build rooms for school classes for the youth as well as other activities.”

Stewart highlighted that he feels as though crime is reduced in areas immediately around sports clubs and he feels strongly about the social impact that these sports grounds will have.

“The road resurfacing projects are a work in progress and are not complete as of yet,” said Stewart. Although he hopes this project will be completed by the next councillor, he said the new councillor will have his own goals and aspirations.
