Man bust with stolen cellphones

SANDTON - A man is arrested with five different cellphones.

A suspect appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 5 May after being arrested for being in possession of five allegedly stolen cellphones.

According to spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, an on-duty Metro police officer in Sandown received a call from the station on 24 April regarding a blue Audi A4 with three occupants who had allegedly been involved in various cellphone thefts in the area.

The officer then saw a vehicle which matched the description and registration number parked on the corner of Gwen Lane and Fredman Drive in Sandton.

Only one man was in the car and, after approaching and searching the vehicle, the officer found five cellphones which were allegedly linked to multiple thefts in the area.

The suspect appeared at Randburg Magistrates’ Court facing charges of possession of stolen property.

The other two suspects are still at large.
