Man attacks girlfriend for not cooking meat

SANDTON - Domestic dispute turns violent after dinner plans fall through.

A case of common assault and domestic violence has been opened at Bramley Police Station after a woman was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend in a house they share together in Marlboro.

According to a police statement, the altercation began on the evening of 16 April, when the suspect asked the victim if she had prepared dinner for him. When the victim informed the suspect that she had not due to a lack of meat and other ingredients, the man allegedly proceeded to slap her across the face.

He then allegedly ran away from the scene after the victim informed him that she was going to call the police. The accused returned to the house after two hours and tried to force himself through the front door. The victim barricaded the door with a sofa and contacted the police, who arrested the suspect two hours later.

Warrant Officer Maphakela stated, “We do not see a lot of cases of domestic violence in this area.” He added that cases of domestic violence should not go unreported and that calling the police is the right thing to do.

The case continues.
