Robbers flee into Bryanston shopping centre

BRYANSTON - Four house robbery suspects tried to outrun police by fleeing towards a Bryanston shopping centre just off Grosvenor Road on 13 April.

According to Constable Stanley Bopape, spokesperson for the Randburg Police, the suspects fled the house on Hunter Street which they were in the process of robbing.

Police followed the suspects to Bryanpark Shopping Centre.

The police managed to arrest three suspects but while trying to make the arrests, one of the suspects was shot in his upper body.

Police recovered one firearm at the shopping centre.

All suspects will be facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Chubb security were also at the scene.

Marketing manager of Bryanpark Shopping Centre, Claire Morgan, said the shopping centre security is constantly on top of any issue and looks out for any suspicious behaviour while working hand in hand with the police to ensure a safe experience at the centre.

Contrary to Bopape’s statement ER24 paramedics, who attended the scene said that on arrival they found that one suspect had sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder, requiring immediate assistance.

While paramedics were treating the patient, they were alerted to a second patient that had been transported to Randburg Police Station.

On arrival paramedics found that the man at the police station had sustained a gunshot wound to his face. Fortunately the wound was minor.

 

 

ER24 paramedics transported one patient while provincial services transported the remaining patient to nearby hospitals.
