One killed in taxi/bus collision in Woodmead

WOODMEAD - One person was killed when a taxi and bus collided in Woodmead on the morning of 7 April.

According to ER24, a woman in her 30’s was killed and four others were injured after a taxi and bakkie collided at the corner of Woodmead Drive and Van Reenen Road in Woodmead.

Paramedics arrived on scene to find the bakkie and taxi sitting in the middle of the intersection.

On assessment paramedics found the body of a woman in her 30’s lying a few metres away from the taxi, showing no signs of life.

Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene.

Four other patients from the taxi were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics treated the patients on scene before transporting them to hospital for further medical treatment.

It is believed that the bakkie collided with the side of the taxi, causing it to roll.

Authorities are investigating the accident.
