Metro police on the spot in Mhere case

RANDBURG - The Simba Mhere trial, which took place on 29 March, discovered that human negligence and speeding were the cause of the motor vehicle accident which took the life of the Top Billing presenter.

The case, which was held at Randburg Magistrates’ Court, saw Metro police officer Vusi Khambule giving his account as the first officer on the scene of the accident which took place on 31 January last year.

According to reports, Khambule said that Preshalin Naidoo’s car had been travelling at a high speed and had collided with two curve lines causing one of his tyres to burst. This in turn caused Naidoo to lose control of his vehicle leading to the horrific collision.

Naidoo currently faces two counts of culpable homicide and additional charges of negligent driving and inconsiderate driving following the death of Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan.

According to reports, Khambule’s and the Metro police’s investigation revealed that Naidoo had tried to swerve his car left towards the William Nicol Drive off-ramp along the N1 South while driving at a very high speed.

The trial will resume on 31 March where Khambule will be cross-examined by Naidoo’s defence.
